The Etna 100 is a great all-rounder at a great price. It can stand alone or be built into your outdoor kitchen. Originally, this model featured a zinc electroplated steel chimney and door. However, with so many customers living close to the coast, the company made the change to stainless steel for better durability.

The Etna 100, which is white with a stainless steel door, is available for pick up from the Brisbane and Melbourne depots and can also be shipped around Australia.

The Etna 120 is perfect for larger families and big entertainers. Measuring 100cm internally, this wood fired gourmet oven can cook up to 4 large oven dishes or 4 large pizzas at the same time.

The new Etna Pietra 100 is something else; hand-built in Portugal, there is limited availability on this very special wood fired oven. As well as all the other premium Etna range features, this beauty is finished in the most stunning stone cladding.

How to Buy a Wood Fired Oven in Brisbane

If you’re looking to buy a wood fired oven in Brisbane, you’ll find a good range of choices. To be prepared, decide what you want to spend before you go shopping.

You’ll also need an idea of where you’re going to use your new oven, as sizes can vary enormously. The good news is, you can buy smaller authentic wood fired ovens that even fit on a balcony.

Wood Fired Oven Manufacturers

When you check out wood fired oven manufacturers, there’s something important you need to keep in mind. The best and most authentic wood fired ovens may not be made here in Australia. However, if an Aussie company is importing them, you can still support your local economy.

Finding out where the oven was made should be one of the first questions you ask. The best wood fired ovens come from Portugal, where they have the knowledge, experience and access to the best natural materials.

Ideally, you want an oven that combines hand-made refractory bricks with modern stainless steel for the door and chimney. That gives you the best of all worlds: authentic results and durability.

The use of the clay – and a layer of insulation – ensures the oven reaches its optimum cooking temperature, retains and releases heat. Wood fired ovens made of inferior and/or unsuitable materials tend to cost more to run, take longer to cook your food and lose out on a lot of the flavour.

The shape of the oven is also important. The best wood fired oven will have a dome or tunnel-shaped roof; again, this is all to do with heat retention and circulation.

Let’s face it, when you buy a wood fired oven in Brisbane, you want it to last! It’s something you should be replacing every few years. Don’t be afraid to ask lots of questions about where and how the oven was made, what materials were used, what it can do and what the price includes.

With the growing demand for authentic pizza ovens, many people found they just couldn’t accommodate a full-sized oven. However, they were disappointed with the choice of portable pizza oven – some didn’t even use a wood fire!

The Maximus is a great choice those who love good food, good company and fun. Amazingly for its size, it can fit two large pizzas at a time, cooking them to absolute perfection in just a couple of minutes. In fact, even if you’re feeding more people, they cook so quickly you can just keep going.

Wood Fired Oven for Sale

It’s not unusual these days to see a wood fired oven for sale online, but do you really know what you’re getting? Now that home pizza ovens are popular, you see them for sale everywhere.

Some are authentic but many are not. Some are wood fired, as they should be, others are powered by different means. Some of are made of clay, others of metal. Some are even sold in kit form and you have to build it yourself!

Deciding which one to buy depends on a few different factors. Where are you going to put it? How many people will you be feeding? Will you use it regularly? And, of course, how much do you want to spend?

If you have the space and the budget, I recommend getting yourself a full-sized traditional-style pizza oven. You will see some made here in Australia, but the best ones are imported from Portugal via Australian suppliers, such as My Wood Fired Oven.

Wood Fired Oven for Sale

If, however, you only have a small courtyard or a balcony, you would probably do better with a portable wood fired oven. If you go down this path, however, be sure to choose a true pizza oven. In other words, look for one that is genuinely wood-fired, dome-shaped in design and uses refractory floor bricks to retain heat.

You should also think about what you’ll be using the oven for. Whilst most people buy them initially as pizza ovens, they quickly discover that wood fired ovens can be used for a wide range of dishes, including roasts, gratins, bakes and bread.

In fact, when you taste the difference between wood-fired and conventionally cooked food, you’ll be hooked. Not only is it delicious, but it’s also better for you as the vitamins and nutrients are better preserved.

Wood fired ovens for sale in Australia aren’t as expensive as you may think so why not take a look.

Choosing the Perfect Pizza Oven

As soon as I saw the words, pizza oven for sale, I knew I was in trouble – in a good way. I’d always wanted a pizza oven but found them too expensive or not authentic enough. Here was a wood-fired pizza oven that was affordable, versatile and came from the home of wood-fired cooking, Portugal (via Brisbane!)

What was just going to be a pizza oven became an ‘everything’ oven once I realised how good it was. My bread-making skills improved enormously once I had the pizza oven. Suddenly, I wasn’t only making traditional loaves and rolls but also authentic Indian and Turkish bread, too.

Pizza Oven

The pizzas were mouth-watering; ready in two to three minutes with a delicious thin wood-fired crust and perfectly cooked toppings. The flavours were so much better than a conventional oven-cooked pizza.

As I got braver, I cooked other dishes in the pizza oven, including vegetable lasagne and gratins. Slow-cooked stews were tender beyond belief and so tasty guests regularly asked for seconds and thirds! There were never any leftovers.

You see, the difference with this pizza oven was that it was a traditional domed wood-fired oven. Manufactured using hand-made refractory clay bricks, this was like the ovens used many thousands of years ago across Portugal, Greece, Spain and Italy.

At its highest temperature, the oven cooks perfect pizza and then, as the heat settles, it is stored in the bricks to release just the right amount over time. That’s when you cook your gratins, bakes, stews and soups. It gives slow cooking a whole new meaning.

So, next time you see the words, pizza oven for sale, and you’re tempted, make sure it’s an authentic clay oven. There are many modern pizza ovens on the market but, without the clay and the dome and the wood fire, you may very well be disappointed.
